Education
With nearly 1.6 million children enrolled in K-12 in Virginia, it is our responsibility to ensure that the needs of our students are met. This includes hiring educated administrators and teachers with nationally competitive salaries, maintaining adequate school buildings, and providing the necessary educational materials (books and technology).
It is equally important that we monitor the ever-increasing cost of higher education. Virginia boasts several of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. As a result, our standards of learning and teaching excellence must continue to exceed expectations in order to remain competitive. In 2009 and 2010, Education Week ranked Virginia 4th in the nation for quality education.
