Redistricting in 2010/2011
THE 2010 CENSUS
As you know, 2010 was a census year, which gave us the opportunity to help the government better allocate funding for essential services and programs. It is important that we are all counted to ensure that our voices continue to be heard. This information is strictly used for the census and cannot be used or given to any other state or federal agency.
REDISTRICTING
The Census affected redistricting in that the population growth and shift will partly determined how district lines were redrawn. Today’s General Assembly is in a unique position that has never occurred in the history of our state legislature – the House is controlled by the Republicans and the Senate is controlled by the Democrats. I have always supported non-partisan redistricting as I believe it is the fairest way to ensure that our citizens are represented. I do not believe that gerrymandering districts to suit the need of one party follows the spirit of equal representation or fair political practices.

A Few Key Points on Redistricting:
If your precinct or neighborhood is moved to a difference district, you do NOT need to re-register to vote. Your polling place will remain the same unless you are otherwise notified by the Fairfax County Registrar’s Office.
If you have questions about redistricting or your polling place, please contact my office. The maps links below show both my old and new district lines. The new district no longer includes several McLean precincts and instead picked up six others, including Fort Buffalo, Graham, Greenway, Pine Ridge, Whittier and a portion of Camelot in Mason and Providence Supervisor districts.
